Fred's experience in OTC drugs is extensive, having served as President and CEO of Novartis' North American Consumer Healthcare Division.  While at Novartis and in previous OTC management roles, Fred successfully launched numerous Rx-to-OTC switches including Habitrol (as OTC Private Label), Lamisil AT, Zantac 75, as well as others in the U.S. and E.U.  Under Fred's guidance, Novartis Consumer Health was named "Best OTC Marketer of the Year" by the National Wholesale Druggists Association.

Fred also has broad management experience in Rx drugs as former General Manager of the Prescription Medical Division of Burroughs Wellcome Canada.  There he initiated the first-ever Canadian pharmaceutical direct-to-consumer advertising for the anti-viral drug Zovirax.  That campaign later became a Best Practice marketing program for Wellcome Plc and inspired Glaxo's global DTC campaigns for Valtrex.

He is one of the leading authorities of N-of-1 clinical trial designs for chronic care Rx drugs, which compare two drugs in a single prescription and can be used for optimizing therapy for an individual patient while at the same time generating savings for payers on a population basis.  Fred also is the inventor of Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies using N-of-1 trial methods combined with patient registries for the controlled prescribing and dispensing of black box drugs (patent pending).

Prior to joining Michael Allen Company, Fred was a Managing Partner at New England Consulting Group leading the healthcare practice.  Fred started his career in sales at P&G, then in marketing at Richardson-Vicks and Cheesebrough Ponds.

Fred holds a BA from Duke University and an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business where he concentrated in Finance and International Marketing.
